I will expand affordable housing and increase down payment assistance so more New Mexicans can build wealth. I will work to reduce prescription drug costs and push for a public healthcare option to lower premiums and out-of-pocket expenses. We must hold corporations and utilities accountable when they raise prices without justification. I support targeted tax relief that benefits working families, not giveaways to the wealthy. I will also work to establish a Universal Basic Income program to provide direct, consistent financial support and economic stability for New Mexicans. This is about ensuring every family has a foundation to meet their basic needs and participate fully in our economy. I will also fight to lower everyday costs like groceries and energy bills. As Lt. Governor, I will ensure state policy reflects the real financial pressures people are facing and delivers real relief.

Education is the foundation of opportunity, and every student deserves access to a high-quality, culturally relevant education. We must fully address and fund the mandates of the Yazzie/Martinez lawsuit to ensure every child, especially those in historically under-served communities—receives the education they are constitutionally guaranteed. I will invest in our educators with better pay, professional support, and respect for the profession, while also protecting our librarians and teachers from political attacks. We must stop the practice of book banning and reject efforts to erase BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ history from our classrooms. I will prioritize culturally responsive and community-driven learning that reflects who our students are and affirms their identities. We also need to provide more support to families so students can succeed both in and out of the classroom. Strengthening career pathways through partnerships between schools, colleges, and industries will ensure students are prepared for the future. Education policy should be shaped by educators, students, and families not top-down mandates.

I will expand workforce training, apprenticeships, and career and technical education aligned with high-demand industries. We must invest in clean energy, technology, outdoor recreation, and infrastructure to create sustainable, future-focused jobs. Supporting New Mexico small businesses and startups is essential, and I will work to expand access to capital, technical assistance, and resources so local entrepreneurs can succeed. I support policies that strengthen labor rights and empower workers to organize and bargain collectively. Economic incentives should prioritize local hiring, fair wages, and long-term community benefit. Our economy should work for people—not just corporations.

I will fight to expand access through a public option and strengthen Medicaid and rural healthcare systems. We must address provider shortages by investing in workforce pipelines and incentives to serve under-served areas. Behavioral health must be a top priority, with sustained funding and community-based solutions. I will work to lower prescription drug costs and increase transparency in pricing. Preventive care and public health investments are essential to reducing long-term costs. Healthcare policy must center patients, not profits.

Public Safety

Public safety means safe communities built on trust, prevention, and accountability. I support investing in community-based violence prevention and intervention programs. We must ensure law enforcement has the resources they need while also strengthening accountability and transparency. I will prioritize mental health response teams/systems so crises are met with care, not just enforcement. Addressing root causes like poverty, lack of opportunity, and housing instability is essential to long-term safety. I support policies that reduce gun violence while respecting responsible ownership. Public safety should be rooted in partnership with communities, not fear.

Protecting our environment is about protecting our future, our health, and our way of life here in New Mexico. We are facing a growing water crisis, and we must treat water as the precious and limited resource that it is. I will fight to protect our groundwater and surface water by maintaining strong safeguards, including keeping produced water out of use beyond the oilfield until science proves it is safe. We must invest in long-term water planning, conservation, and infrastructure to ensure sustainable supplies for our communities, agriculture, and future generations. I support transitioning to clean energy while holding polluters accountable and ensuring they pay for environmental cleanup, not taxpayers. We must center environmental justice by protecting front-line and Tribal communities who are disproportionately impacted by pollution and climate change. Investing in climate resilience, drought mitigation, and sustainable land management will strengthen our state for the future. Protecting our environment means putting people first and making decisions grounded in science, transparency, and accountability.

Housing is a human right, and we must act with urgency to address the housing crisis. I will expand affordable housing development and preservation across urban and rural communities. We must increase down payment assistance and first-time home buyer programs to build generational wealth. I support stronger tenant protections to prevent unjust evictions and rent gouging. I will work to ban the purchase of single-family homes and manufactured home parks by private equity to protect communities from corporate consolidation and keep housing accessible for families. We need to invest in supportive housing solutions to address homelessness with dignity and effectiveness. I will work to streamline responsible development while ensuring community input and environmental protections. Housing policy must prioritize people over profit and ensure everyone has a safe place to call home.
